Hi. It’s Peter Chapman. Welcome to my Blog on Vegetable Gardening for Beginners. The blog is designed to help you to start and enjoy a kitchen garden, using whatever space you have.
I have enjoyed growing my own fruit and vegetables for many years on and off. It started with my father, Jack. He came from a Cambridgeshire, England village called Burwell.
His family always had a kitchen garden providing fruit and vegetables for the family and they also kept a pig, chickens and rabbits for the table. Jack always asked me to help him nurture the garden, both at home and at the Victorian Walled garden he helped my maternal grandfather, Peter, maintain.
I also helped my maternal grandfather, Peter Flanagan, who was the Garder and maintenance manager for Bosden House in Offerton, Cheshire. From about 9 years old I used to spend Saturdays helping him in the walled garden and maintaining the grounds and lawns.
Since then I have grown plants in our home back garden and an allotment.
So to help all those who are beginning a kitchen garden I have set up a plot on my small lawn to the rear of my house…designed to show everyone that you can enjoy vegetable gardening on a small space and it doesn’t take long to develop one either.
I hope you enjoy the blog.
